When we started Tech Solutions Institute, our goal was simple: to create a space where Pakistan’s youth, who make up 64% of the population, could learn new skills and grow. We saw that many young people didn’t have the right opportunities or guidance to succeed, so we decided to launch an internship program to help them gain real-world experience.

In just two days, we were excited to receive over 100 applications. But as we began reviewing the CVs, we quickly realized that many graduates lacked basic professional skills. We saw common mistakes—people listing skills they didn’t have, cluttering their CVs with unnecessary details, and using outdated formats. Some even included stylish photos that didn’t fit a professional image.

When we moved on to interviews, we faced more challenges. Some candidates missed their scheduled online interviews and asked to reschedule as if their time commitment wasn’t important. In physical interviews, some arrived late, lacked proper communication skills, or brought friends along as if they were there for moral support instead of a job opportunity.

Despite these challenges, we wanted to give everyone a fair chance, so we offered a few candidates a three-day trial period. But even then, some failed to stay in touch, and others didn’t follow through on their commitments. Some designers lacked creativity or didn’t understand basic color theory, while others tried to push their own ideas without considering the client’s needs.

Throughout this journey, we’ve learned that success requires effort, patience, and the willingness to learn and grow. It’s not about taking shortcuts, but about building a strong foundation of skills and experience.
